Malones Dundee launches search for local bands ahead of October opening

Malones Dundee is calling on local bands and musicians to get in touch as the new Irish pub prepares to open in the city this October.

The historic Panmure Street venue, currently being transformed through a £250,000 renovation of the former BrewDog premises, will put live entertainment at the heart of its offer, with a stage for live music and performances planned for five nights a week.

The Malones team want Dundee’s own music scene to be a major part of the programme and is inviting local acts interested in paid performances at the venue to make themselves known. Open to a variety of musicians and genres, the award-winning Irish pub group is particularly interested in crowd-pleasing bands and acts able to deliver popular hits. Performers will typically be booked for two-to-three-hour sessions, with the team keen to build up a strong roster of local talent for future gigs and events.

Simon Keane, director at Malones, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Malones’ craic to Dundee, and we’re really keen that from the outset our new venue develops its own distinctive character. Local musicians performing at the venue will help us to achieve that, while also providing another city centre stage for local talent. We’d urge any musicians or bands who are interested to get in touch.”

The Dundee opening will expand the Malones family of Irish pubs, with its existing bars located in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Leith and Glasgow. The new venue will combine live music with major live sport, home-cooked pub food and a range of Irish drinks, including Guinness, Murphy’s, Beamish and Club Orange.

Any musicians or bands interested in performing at Malones Dundee should send their details to: manager@malonesdundee.com, outlining the sort of music they play and providing links to music or live performances.
