Scotland’s oldest purpose built cinema launches summer savings for families
Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema, The Hippodrome Bo’ness, is cutting child and family ticket prices from today, 25 June, to 1 September 2026 as part of the UK Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative.
Families looking for affordable days out this summer can enjoy more big screen adventures for less at The Hippodrome, with reduced child and family ticket prices running throughout the school holiday period.
From 25 June to 1 September 2026, The Hippodrome will offer lower prices on child and family tickets, helping families make the most of summer cinema trips at one of Scotland’s friendliest picture houses. The offer forms part of the UK Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, designed to help families access better value activities during the summer months.
Audiences can look forward to a packed programme of family favourites, blockbusters and big screen adventures at The Hippodrome, including Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (12A), Toy Story 5 (PG), Minions and Monsters (U) and Moana (PG).
Child tickets, for young people aged 16 and under, will be available at reduced prices across standard screenings and selected event cinema. For standard screenings, child tickets will be priced at £5.69 when booked in advance and £6.04 on the door. A special family offer, available for standard screenings only, gives families a ticket bundle for either two adults and two children, or one adult and three children, priced at £22.94 when booked in advance and £24.68 on the door. Junior snack packs are on offer too at just £3.68 for a drink, chocolate bar and popcorn. A £0.30 booking fee applies on all tickets.
The Hippodrome offers audiences the chance to enjoy new releases, classic favourites, live and ‘as live’ events in a unique setting. Opened in 1912, the Hippodrome Bo’ness venue remains one of Scotland’s most treasured cinema spaces, and each March hosts the internationally renowned HippFest, Scotland’s festival of silent film with live music.
Alison Stauss, Arts Development Officer (Film and Media) at Falkirk Council said: “We know parents and carers are looking for great value things to do with the kids during the summer holidays and there’s nothing quite like a trip to the cinema for a fun family outing. Thanks to the Great British Summer Savings initiative, we’re delighted to make child and family tickets and snacks even more affordable, so more people can enjoy the magic of the cinema for less this summer at The Hippodrome.”
